Senator Harper Angel looks forward to national committee work
May 4, 2005, FRANKFORT - Senator Denise Harper Angel, D-Louisville, was recently appointed to the Human Services and Welfare Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures.
The national organization provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for legislators to exchange ideas and discuss issues facing the nation.
"I am very honored to receive this appointment," said Harper Angel, who serves on the legislature's Health and Welfare Committee. "I look forward to serving with fellow legislators from across the nation and bringing new ideas back to the Commonwealth."
The Human Services and Welfare Committee is one of the national organization's 15 standing committees responsible for developing official policy statements used for establishing lobbying priorities in Washington.
"We will have the opportunities to establish priorities that are important to states and my focus will, of course, be on Kentucky's needs," said Harper Angel.
The committee will meet three times each year.
