Senator Harper Angel gets key committee assignments
January 10, 2005, FRANKFORT - Despite being new to the legislature, Senator Denise Harper Angel, D-Louisville, has been appointed to five committees, including the powerful Appropriations and Revenue Committee.
Harper Angel, who is beginning her first term in the Senate, said the committees she will be serving on will enable her to be a strong advocate for the 35th District.
ÒThe appointments will give me the opportunity to weigh in on issues that are very important to our area,Ó said Harper Angel. "It's great to hit the ground running."
In addition to Appropriations and Revenue, Harper Angel has been appointed to Economic Development Tourism and Labor; Health and Welfare; Veterans Military Affairs and Public Protection; and the Subcommittee on Energy.
"I look forward to serving on all of my committees, especially A&R," Harper Angel said. "We will have a full plate this session with the need to pass a state budget. That's my top priority for the upcoming session."
