Harper Angel files legislation to exempt
fees for disabled veterans
FRANKFORT - Senator Denise Harper Angel, D-Louisville, is sponsoring legislation to exempt holders of disabled veteran or prisoner of war license plates from any fees for public parking.
"These men and women deserve special treatment," Harper Angel said. "Many of them have literally put their lives on the line for you and me."
Under Harper Angel's legislation, cars bearing disabled veteran or prisoner of war tags would be exempt from any fees for public parking, including meter fees charged by state or local governments or any state or local government agency.
"This is more than ceremonial. It provides an ongoing way to honor our disabled veterans and former prisoners of war," Harper Angel said.
Harper Angel urged her colleagues in the Senate to support the bill. "This is a great way to support the work of these outstanding men and women," Harper Angel said.
