Senator Harper Angel plans
Kentucky Renewable Fuels Summit
FRANKFORT -- Senator Denise Harper Angel, D-Louisville, hopes a significant step toward reducing the country's dependence on foreign oil will be the end result of Monday's Kentucky Renewable Fuels Summit.
"Just about everyone in the state with an interest in renewable fuels will be at the summit," said Harper Angel, a member of the legislature's Subcommittee on Energy. "I'm hoping we can all put our cards on the table and put together legislation that can be acted upon during this session of the General Assembly." Harper Angel said there will room for all viewpoints.
Harper Angel said her viewpoint is that Kentucky should increase its use of renewable fuels. "I'd like to see us set a standard to require a renewable component in all gasoline and diesel," she said. "It's better for the environment and creates a market for Kentucky farm products."
The summit will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 23, in the Farnham Dudgeon Civic Center in Frankfort. Attendees will include legislators, producers, distributors, retailers and consumers. -- 30 --
